At Kids First in Stafford, we provide general pediatric care from birth to college age. This includes well checks, immunizations, and management of simple illnesses as well as chronic health conditions.
Basic lab services are available, including blood counts, urinalyses, flu and strep tests, etc.
Our goal is to be a true medical home, and manage all your child's medical needs, with the help of referrals to specialists when necessary. We do not see newborns in the hospital, but will see them for their first outpatient visit as recommended by the hospital at discharge. We do not offer inpatient pediatric care, but we can arrange admissions when necessary, communicate with the hospitalists and/or specialists involved, and co-ordinate follow up care.
Because our practice is small, your child will be well known by the staff and you will be able to contact us directly after hours (for a small fee). Every attempt will be made to help you avoid having to go to an urgent care and see a provider who doesn't know your child, and to avoid the emergency room unless you have a true emergency.
Questions can also be answered by email, through our secure patient portal. There may be a fee for this if questions are very frequent, complicated or lengthy, or we may recommend in those cases that you make an appointment instead.
School, camp and sports physicals, asthma action plans, allergy action forms and other medical forms can be completed at the time of an appointment. We will need you to provide these forms and complete them as much as possible before we fill them out. If they are brought in to be completed when your child does not have an appointment, there will be a $15 charge per form, and they may take up to a week, or $30 if it is needed within 24 hrs. There is also a fee for any letters that are requested. These fees are not covered by insurance.
